In 1940 Germany invaded Norway to secure two major assets, deep water ports open to the North Atlantic; and, more importantly, to acquire a supply of Heavy Water which was essential for their production of a nuclear weapon which could destroy London. The race was on to destroy the plant, and the accumulating supply before a substantial shipment could be made.
