Pharmaceuticals from human consumption—including antidepressants, painkillers, antibiotics, and stimulants like caffeine—are polluting rivers worldwide, with over 40% of global rivers containing harmful levels of drugs. The good news is we can help and help ourselves in the process.

The 28th (North Gloucestershire) Regiment of Foot played a critical role at Waterloo in 1815, forming part of Kempt’s Brigade in the 5th Division. Known for their steadiness, they helped defeat D’Erlon’s corps, famously repulsing French cavalry in square formation.

Philip Bowen – Richard Nixon, Crook, Statesman

Richard Milhous Nixon was the 37th president of the United States, serving from 1969 to 1974. He previously served as the 36th vice president from 1953 to 1961. His five years in the White House saw reduction of U.S. involvement in the Vietnam War, detente with the Soviet Union and China, the first manned Moon landings, and the establishment of the Environmental Protection Agency and Occupational Safety and Health Administration. Nixon’s second term ended early, when he became the only president to resign from office, following the Watergate scandal.
